Usage and billing
DevLyft bills per second on what your workloads reserve. There are no subscriptions, reserved capacity or platform fee. This page explains what's measured and where to see it.
What you're billed for#
| Compute | Measured on | Starts | Stops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared | The CPU and memory each running replica requests (the build's CPU and Memory) | When a replica starts running | When the replica stops, for example when you delete the deploy or lower replicas |
| Isolated (dedicated nodes) | Each whole node, at its machine type's fixed price, regardless of utilisation | When a node is leased for your workloads | When nothing remains on the node and it's released |
Both are charged per second. On shared compute you pay for each instance, so two replicas cost twice as much, and only for the time the extra replica runs. The Billing page also lists usage lines for dedicated hosting and for network egress when they apply.
For current per-unit prices and a calculator for both models, see Pricing.
Estimating a workload#
replicas × (vCPU requested × vCPU rate + GB requested × memory rate)
Monthly figures on the pricing page assume 730 hours. Your bill is the actual seconds each replica ran.
Where to see usage#
- Billing (admins): Usage This Period lists each usage line with its quantity. Current Period, Estimated Month and Latest Invoice show spend. See Billing.
- Deployments: the Resources column shows what each replica reserves.
- Metrics and Overview: what your workloads actually use, which helps you right-size requests.
Reducing usage#
- Right-size requests with Adjust resources. Compare real usage in View metrics with the allocation first. See CPU and memory.
- Lower Replicas on environments that don't need redundancy, such as staging.
- Delete deploys you no longer need. Their builds stay, so you can deploy them again later.
- On dedicated nodes, pack replicas so they fill the nodes you already lease.
Promotional credit#
DevLyft doesn't currently grant a sign-up credit. If your organisation has promotional credit, the remaining amount appears under Usage This Period, and while it covers your usage the Billing page says Your usage is currently covered by promotional credit — you won't be charged until it runs out.
